Comments on chapters 1–9

Hi, everyone. I’ve received a truckload of messages on the first half of Being Special. I don’t want to take up a lot of space so let’s get to it.

Dear Being Special,

I don’t even know what to write right now. I’m conflicted to be honest. This is certainly different than theIEProblem. First of all, where’s Jessica Sale? She’s, by far, your most interesting character and where is she? And, no, I’m not counting that small cameo in chapter 7.

It’s like the story has lost its way without her character. I hope you weren’t pressured to remove her because she was an unrepentant bully. Honestly, her POV chapters kept me reading in the first one. Autumn is just too unlikable and, this time, she’s even worse. I don’t even like Meylin that much anymore either.

This needs to be said, Jessica needs to return to put Autumn in her place.

Thank you for your time,

James Ogle

(Address withheld on request)

Hey, James. You’re not the only one that wants to see Jessica again. She certainly garnered a lot of attention in theIEProblem. What say you out there? You want to see Jessica Sale return?

As for your comments on Autumn Blevins, you’re not the only one that feels that way.

Dear Being Special,

Okay. I don’t care if this gets printed or not. I can’t stand Autumn anymore. There. I said it and I’m sorry I had to. Look, I loved theIEProblem and Autumn was okay in that story. I mean, she was arrogant and spoiled in the previous installment but this is too much. Way too much!

I can’t believe Autumn hasn’t learned anything after her experiences with Jessica. WHAT’S WRONG WITH HER? In the very first chapter she’s unbelievably rude to someone with disabilities. Are you kidding me? Wasn’t Autumn bullied because of her disabilities. And she acts like that. Wow. Good thing Meylin called her out on it.

My question is, what happened to Autumn’s human side. Remember her friendship with Hassan in the first one? I do. Enough with this version of Autumn. Come on! Get it together!

Best,

Autumn is certainly a controversial figure this time around. However, a certain Nick Clarke thinks he has this whole thing figured out.

Dear Being Special,

Interesting so far but, man, you’re really selling the Blaze Berdahl connection this time around. The first one had those elements too but this one is crazy. The overall story is also a lot meaner than the first (I hope that changes soon).

My question is, what is “Special Friends” based on? Any hints?

Thanks,

Nick Clarke

Sorry, Nick, but no hints. However, you do win a No Prize for guessing that Autumn Blevins is partly based off the career of Blaze Berdahl. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery.

Well, that’s it for this batch, everyone. If you have any letters please send them to s0617680@monmouth.edu. Just tell them that Autumn sent you.

Till next time!
